Over the past few decades, numerous waterways have been straightened, enclosed by levees or partly led through cased piping. Through specific actions, we aim to improve or reinstate the natural conditions. This allows water-related nature the opportunity to redevelop.

The water quality in the project area is influenced by various contaminants, originating from households, industry, agriculture and transport. A number of actions within the project focus on an approach that targets these sources.

These actions aim to increase the natural water storage capacity. This leads to a reduction of flooding and a positive effect on biodiversity.
